BATTERY : ALL CHARGES DROPPED.  PLEAD NOT GUILTY AND DEMANDED JURY TRIAL IN THIS CRIMINAL DEFENSE CASE.
Ex-Husband had actually called 911 first on the ex-wife for battery, then she called 911 when she saw him on the phone. They were in the same home.  When the police
arrived, they arrested only him despite him informing them of this situation, and the Prosecutor charged only him.  The ex-wife's 911 call was the only call in evidence. Ms.
Williams took this case
pro bono from the Public Defender's Office and initiated a Public Records request to obtain the ex-husband's 911 call, which supported his
claims.   When combined with her other evidence, she was able to persuade the Prosecutor to dismiss the charges .

PRE-TRIAL DIVERSION/CLASSES,  PLEA DEAL,  WITHHOLD,PROBATION, RESTITUTION, SUSPENDED SENTENCE, NO CONTEST PLEA, GPS/COMMUNITY CONTROL.

(CLIENT SENT THESE FLOWERS AFTER MS. WILLIAMS PREVAILED IN HER CASE)

"I've been doing these cases for 6 years, and you're the first attorney that
I've seen win it! I've never seen an attorney convince DCF and the Judge to change
its mind in this type of case. I saw that Judge go from leaning back with his mind
already made up that DCF was right, to sitting up, then to leaning forward when
you presented your case. I am really impressed!"
---State Regional Counsel to Ms. Williams, present throughout entire proceedings (DCF Alleged Elder Abuse, Neglect, and Guardianship
Proceedings.  Proceedings included Ms. Williams' cross of DCF's "surprise" Physician Expert Witness.
 Despite this  (procedurally Objectionable)
tactic, Ms. Williams felt
confident enough based on her 20 year Nursing career to cross the expert and prevailed.

Protective Services removed Ms. Williams' client's elderly mother from her home and care without notice based on an (unfounded) complaint from another agency which the client had discharged from caring for her mother.
The client was informed on Wednesday that the hearing to make this a permanent removal was that same week.  She retained Ms. Williams on Wednesday.  Ms. Williams received a copy of DCF's petition/complaint on
Thursday afternoon. The hearing was that Friday.  At that hearing DCF presented photographs of the mother as support of their abuse allegations that Ms. Williams had never seen; eyewitness testimony from their
investigator, and more.  Being not only an Attorney but Registered Nurse  where Elder Care was Ms. Williams' specialty for over 10 years and being a state-approved Alzheimer's Trainer, Ms. Williams successfully
countered their evidence to show  DCF's procedural contravention of the law in the removal; commonality in the elder population of the depictions shown in the
photos; crossed-examined their Investigator; produced her own First Responder eyewitness to the removal, and more.
The Result: That day (Friday), The Judge ordered that the client's Mother returned home.

BUT WAIT! When Ms. Williams returned to court the following week to retrieve the Signed Order, DCF had a surprise! They wanted another emergency hearing right then because
they allegedly had NEW Evidence:  a physician expert witness who had examined the client's mother at the hospital for the purpose of testifying that the mother would not be "safe" at
home, but instead needed to be placed in an ALF or Nursing Home.  Although it was already scheduled that both sides would appear at that time just to retrieve the Order, DCF never
informed Ms. Williams of its expert witness nor desire for another hearing when at that time.  In fact, they didn't tell Ms. Williams until both Counsel were in the courthouse
that afternoon because "there wasn't time to call."  Although this was objectionable, Ms. Williams had 20 years of vast Nursing experience, including Director of Nursing in 2 states for
Nursing Homes (including with a secured Alzheimer's Unit); Certified ALF Administrator; and statewide ALF consultant.  She also represents these facilities in Administrative Law, so
she knows all of their regulations.  Accordingly, she felt confident that she could prevail as she had already collaborated with the necessary resources to put everything in place for the
mother to return home PRIOR to that day that a physician/medical director would  possibly be order.  So  prior to the Expert/physician speaking, Ms. Williams requested to detail all of
her interventions and corroborating documentation on record.   Afterward, the physician testified  and was questioned by Ms. Williams.  All that he would have ordered to make the
home "safe" had already been put in place by Ms
. Williams.
The Result: The Judge signed written orders for the  client's mother to returned home that day Her mom is now happily back at home.
All DCF service/supervision has been terminated.

(Below is Client's CLOSING LETTER TO MS. WILLIAMS AFTER CASES.  SHE SUCCESSFULLY REPRESENTED HIM SIMULTANEOUSLY IN HIS SEPARATE
FELONY CHILD ABUSE (CRIMINAL DEFENSE) AND DCF CHILD ABUSE/DEPENDENCY CASES:

"Good evening Rawsi, I want to start off thanking you for all the time and effort you put in on helping me get my life back together....
This will allow other people who are in the same situation or worse, to know that there is Hope!

I want to start off by letting the reader know that getting arrested and charged with Child Abuse was only the beginning.   I went through a lot and it hurt me to know that I was at a point
where I might have not ever been able to see my children again.   The pretrial diversion offered by the court helped me with a second chance and put me in a position where I really had to
reflect on everything that had happened.  I was scared, I was frantic, I was worried and I was filled with anxiety throughout the whole ordeal, not to mention how my family felt.   My wife
and I thought our marriage was over,  and the children thought "Daddy" was no longer part
of the family.  The beginning months were emotionally agonizing to my heart and soul and it was a burden on my wife as well.

Thankfully, as I complied and obeyed the courts request, I found the situation to be a bit smoother than I had thought.  Yes, I was still scared of what  simple mistake I could of made cost
me.   I was on thin ice and knew I could not mess up in order for me to get my family back.   I prayed to God, that He may alleviate the pain and unite us back,  but God had other plans.  I
started realizing
that God had put me in this position of suffering to mold me, that all this happened for a greater purpose.  God really wants to work on my patience, because it is something I really lack
in.  The Lord knew that I was not walking in accordance to His will.   I had chosen my own path.   I thought I was okay because I did the "religious" things,  such as read my Bible,  go to
church, etc., but I wasn't fully committed (still to this day it's hard to fully surrender it all).   But He chose to this so that I would really learn to be patient with my wife and children.   The
six months of separation from my family allowed me to put it all into practice as I missed them.  Both parenting classes opened my eyes on how to discipline children, the therapy, and
anger management allowed me to reflect on my past, and on the roots of who I was and
what I had become, and couples counseling as well as family therapy taught me to cherish my loved ones.

When we suffer as human beings, we really see the big picture of what's going wrong in our lives but when we have it all and we are on top of the world, we are blind to our mistakes and
failures. 2 Corinthians 12:10 says, That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in difficulties.  For when I am weak, then am I strong.

Thank you once again Rawsi and may God bless your organization greatly.  Franklyn don't feel left out.  I know you were there helping Rawsi, please delight in this thanksgiving too."
