The Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) banned this standout high school football student-athlete from ALL sports for the ENTIRE 2024-2025 school year. By the time Attorney Williams got the case, interviews had already been completed and admissions by others involved had been made. The decision of the full-year ban had already been made and entered against the student-athlete, and was in force. The FHSAA had no precedent of reversing a full-year ban at its lowest inter-agency appeals section hearing (Sectional Appeals Committee). The FHSAA banned this Christopher Columbus lacrosse player Luther Johnson, V ("LJV") from playing ALL sports his entire Senior year over a 20-second in-game lacrosse play. Attorney Williams got the ban reversed by the FHSAA's Executive Board, but their decision required that Luther miss all senior year football season to wait until lacrosse season to play again. Attorney Williams believed that decision did not grant Justice! She immediately took the FHSAA to Court and won, and got Luther back on the field before the season started. He never missed one football or lacrosse game. Luther's football team even won the Florida Class 8A Championship!

It was of NO dispute that the policy was in force, fully paid, and covered the damages to the church after a driver veered off the road one night and ran his car ALL THE WAY INTO the church causing serious damage. Yet, the Insurance company only agreed to pay LESS than 1/3 of the church's demand and would not pay any more on the policy. The church was a black congregation in the poorer side of that city.

While visiting from another state on vacation, his girlfriend alleged he physically assaulted and badly beat her, and had him arrested.


He stood to lose his freedom, city employment, and everything if convicted. Another Attorney in New York referred his family to Ms. Williams for criminal representation.


Ms. Williams showed the State that HE was actually the victim, not the girlfriend. The state dismissed the charge!

Although divorced, he and his ex-wife stayed in the same home while financially transitioning for one to move out. On this day, the ex-wife decided she'd get him out a little faster. She started a physical fight so she'd have bruises and then called the police after she saw him calling 911. Despite his efforts to explain the situation to the police they arrested HIM and charged him with Domestic Violence.

Nothing was done to the ex-wife.


He stood to lose his freedom, concealed weapons permit, and job which required him to possess a concealed weapon's permit.


Ms. Williams took this case pro bono as part of her participation in the Miami-Dade Public Defender's pro bono program and showed the State that HE was actually the victim, not the ex-wife.

Sadly, the resident committed suicide and the staff member died as well.
AHCA filed a Complaint to revoke the ALF's license and in preparation of reporting the Owner (who is also a Nurse) to the Board of Nursing for action against the Nurse's license. AHCA also reported the Owner/Nurse to the police for Criminal investigation.

The ALF hired Ms. Williams,
who is also a Registered Nurse, approved ALF Core Trainer, and Certified ALF Administrator.


RESULT:
Ms. Williams prevailed, AHCA dropped its fight to revoke the ALF's license, the facility is still licensed today owned by the same Owner/Nurse and Administrator.
No action was taken against the Nurse/Owner's Nursing license.
No Criminal charges were filed against the Owner/Nurse and the case was closed.

Sadly, the resident left the facility in the wee hours of the morning without staff knowledge.
He was hit by a police car and died after hospitalization. Police found the ALF and notified it of the resident's death. The family threatened suit.
The situation was reported to AHCA.


The ALF hired Ms. Williams,
who is also a Registered Nurse, approved ALF Core Trainer, and Certified ALF Administrator.
Immediately that same day Ms. Williams commenced her independent investigation, as well as put immediate quality control methods in place, and interviewed and trained all staff in the new measures. Within 24 hours AHCA came to the facility and presented to the Administrator a list of tasks which must be completed within 24 hours due to the severity of the situation and sanctions. At that time the ALF presented to AHCA all that had already been completed. EVERYTHING that was on AHCA's list had ALREADY been done by Ms. Williams.
Further, Ms. Williams, through her investigation, was able to assist the ALF in showing AHCA that the resident's elopement and death were NOT the fault of the ALF.



RESULT:
Ms. Williams prevailed. AHCA dropped its fight to revoke the ALF's license.
The ALF is still licensed today owned by the same Owner and Administrator.

"Good evening Rawsi, I want to start off by thanking you for all the time and effort you put in helping me get my life back together...This will help other people who are in the same situation or worse, to know that there is Hope! I want to start off by letting the reader know that getting arrested and charged with child abuse was only the beginning. I went through a lot and it hurt me to know that I was at a point where I might not ever be able to see my children again. The pre-trial diversion offered by the court helped me with a second chance and put me in a position where I really had to reflect on everything that happened. I was scared, I was frantic, and I was worried and I was filled with anxiety throughout the whole ordeal, not to mention how my family felt. My wife and I thought our marriage was over, and the children thought "Daddy" was no longer part of the family. The beginning months were emotionally agonizing to my heart and it was a burden on my wife as well. Thankfully, as I complied with the Court's request, I found the situation to be a lot smoother than I had thought. Yes, I was still scared of what simple mistake I could have made cost me. I was on thin ice and I knew I could not mess up in order for me to get my family back. I prayed to God that He may alleviate the pain and unite us back, but God had other plans. I started realizing that God had put me in this position of suffering to mold me, that all this all this happened for a greater purpose. God really wants to work on my patience, because it is something I lack in. The Lord knew that I was not walking in accordance with His will. I had chosen my own path. I thought I was okay because I did the "religious" things, go to church, etc., but I wasn't fully committed, (still to this day it's hard to surrender it all). But He chose to do this so that I would really learn to be patient with my wife and children. The six months of separation from my wife and family allowed me to put it all into practice as I missed them. Both parenting classes opened my eyes on how to discipline children, the therapy, and anger management, allowed me to reflect on my past, and on the roots of who I was, and what I had become, and the couples counseling as well as family therapy taught me to cherish my loved ones. When we suffer as human beings, we really see the big picture of what's going on in our lives but when we have it all and we are on top of the world, we really are blind to our mistakes and failures. 2 Corinthians 12:10 says, That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weakness, in insults, in hardships, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then am I strong. Thank you again Rawsi, and may God bless your organization greatly. Franklyn don't feel left out.
